Chief Engineer Officer

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s main engine, auxiliary engines and all other engines machinery and mechanical / electrical equipment. He is the superior of all other Engineers and of all ratings employed in the engine department.

The Chief Engineer not only reports to the vessel's Master, but also to the shore-based Technical Superintendents of the Company.
Chief Engineers employed by E.R. Schiffahrt are highly knowledgeable and experienced professionals with the ability to communicate and report efficiently, and with excellent knowledge of relevant laws, rules and regulations concerning safety and environmental protection.

As a matter of course, we expect our Chief Engineers to hold all documents and certificates required for their position.
