Second Engineer Officer - First Assistant Engineer

The 2nd Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer, and is responsible for the day to day management of the engine department. He controls and supervises maintenance and repair work of all kinds in the engine department as required and/or directed by the Chief Engineer and/or the Company.

The 2nd Engineer is the superior of all other engineer officers and of all ratings employed in the engine department. He also provides support to the deck department in all matters related to proper maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
