E.R. Schiffahrt supports young scientists
E.R. Schiffahrt is a successful international company. Responsible attitudes towards our customers, employees and investors form a key component of our strategy. For this reason, it is important to us that the company takes a stance on social responsibility. Both in Hamburg and further afield, we are involved in numerous projects in the fields of education, research and science.
Inquiring minds wanted.
The “Jugend forscht” Young Researchers’ “Pupils Experimenting” competition supports the young scientists of the future. Germany needs this talent. As a sponsoring company, we enable young researchers to make their ideas reality and to present them to the public. Inquiring minds are also in demand in our industry, shipping. We need further innovative solutions for protecting the environment and improving energy efficiency on our ships.
Albert Schumacher, Chief Executive Officer of E.R. Schiffahrt says: “Germany needs ambitious and talented scientists. With our involvement, we want to support the curiosity and desire to investigate that these young people have. Young scientists should have the opportunity to realise and present their ideas.”
We like how you’re thinking.
As the sponsor of the regional competition, E.R. Schiffahrt is organising the entire event. The shipowner will organise the venue and the presentation of the projects, will donate prizes and support the panel of jurors with its own experts.
The current competition will run under the motto: “We like how you’re thinking!” Young people are free to choose whatever topic appeals to them from the following seven areas: the working world, biology, chemistry, geo and space sciences, mathematics/computing, physics and technology.
The regional competition for Hamburg-Alster will be held on 16 and 17 February 2012 at the University of Hamburg’s Department of Chemistry,
Martin-Luther-King-Platz 6,
20146 Hamburg.
