First PSV newbuildings for E.R. Schiffahrt
Double naming ceremony
Hamburg, Germany, 23 June 2008. The Hamburg-based shipowner E.R. Schiffahrt celebrated a double naming ceremony for the first newbuildings to join its offshore fleet last Saturday, 21 June 2008. The "E.R. Aalesund" and the "E.R. Stavanger" were named by Dr. Antje Wünschmann, wife of Mr. Philipp Wünschmann (Deutsche Schiffsbank) and Mrs. Marlies Temp, wife of Mr. Torsten Temp (HypoVereinsbank). Both ships are UT 755 LN-type platform supply vessels, servicing the oil industry. They were developed by Rolls-Royce and built at the Aker shipyard in Aukra, Norway.
"Our new platform supply vessels have a very good reputation amongst charterers and meet the highest technical standards," said Willem Dekker, Managing Director at E.R. Schiffahrt. They will be managed by E.R. Schiffahrt along with two sister vessels to be delivered by the end of this year. The company has 14 more offshore newbuildings in its order book.
Modern PSVs are high-tech vessels which transport supplies to drill sites and production facilities. They have outstanding manoeuvrability and satellite-aided positioning systems which ensure that the vessels can be safely loaded and unloaded even in heavy seas. In addition to the North Sea and the Mediterranean, the "E.R. Stavanger" and the "E.R. Aalesund" could be deployed in other oil active areas, such as West Africa, Brazil or in the US Gulf Coast region.
